While restoring the interior of a period property recently, I had recourse to a supplier whom I had not used before, Thornhill Galleries. The contract in question required me to restore the house room by room in styles reflecting the grandeur & craftsmanship of late 1st Millennium Europe. The client had a particular interest in antique fireplaces and wood paneling, so I needed to be able to find fireplaces, paneling, and fireplace accessories of sufficient quality and diversity to satisfy their desires. I was delighted then at the range and condition of the wood paneling and fireplaces offered by Thornhill Galleries. The superb quality and diversity of their stock of antique marble, wood, and stone fireplaces and mantels, as well as fine antique woodworking and carving, cabinetwork and period detailing, coupled with their excellent levels of service persuaded me to give them a mention here. They also carry a full range of antique fireplace accessories, including firegrates and baskets, firedogs, andirons, firetools, firescreens, firebacks, fireplace surrounds, registers and hob grates.
